How much wood could a woodcut cut?

I thought I'd try my hand at doing a woodcut, nothing too fancy or complicated, because lets face it it's more involved than a few clicks of a mouse and theres no 'apple z' so any accidents best be of the happy variety. Even though I managed not to cut anything that did'nt want cutting it was the transfer of ink to paper where I came unstuck and I failed to make a print. I was quite pleased to be left with this little bit of wood though.
