I've just shipped off a batch of prints to be exhibited as part of Cinemascope at the boxbird gallery in Brighton. The theme of the exhibition is film and the brief was to produce two pieces that in some way illustrate a particular film, either by re-creating a favourite scene or by putting ones own particular slant on the films poster. I chose to make a poster for whats possibly one of my favourite films, The Graduate and my second choice was the scene from Jaws where Roy Scheider spots the shark and utters those immortal words "we're gonna need a bigger boat"...ok, ok so he does'nt actually say those words but it fits the picture better and...well...it's artistic license. The more observant person will also spot that in The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman is wearing a full diving outfit including air tank, but I don't care...I have a license for this sort of thing.
The exhibition will be open for the 2009 Brighton Fringe Festival from Friday 8th May - 31st May.

Aceness - as usual -
Good skills Mr Ben...
Ah man - this post upsets me greatly...
Your two prints are ace as per usual but I've been trying very hard to organize a similar film poster inspired exhibition in London planning for something in August only to see it's already been done... Gutted.
Oh well - looks like I'm gonna need a new idea. Or a bigger boat.
Loving the limited cd sleeves as well dood.
